Meet the Artist: JIWON
My name is Claire Ji Won Song, and I am an artist based in Durham, North Carolina & Dallas, Texas. I graduated from Duke University with a dual degree in Biology (B.S.) and Visual Arts (B.A.) with distinction and a thesis art gallery collection. I create a wide range of works from medical and scientific illustrations to painted fine arts, 35 mm film photography, and sculptural works. Within traditional mediums, I specialize in the niche of medical fine arts, incorporating my biological interests with my artistic endeavors.
I am currently partnering with my mother, Helena Song, in hopes of being able to support my father, Kevin Song in getting back on his feet after cancer treatment. My mom gave up her life in Korea working as an illustrator and lost access to being able to create for a living. She hopes to alleviate our family’s financial situation through her artistic passions and creations.
